“My journey at Curtin Malaysia has been about more than pursuing a PhD. It has been about finding purpose, pushing beyond my comfort zone and exploring how research can create meaningful change.

I’m pursuing a PhD in Public Health, researching how climate-induced floods affect maternal health in Pakistan. At the heart of my work are women and communities whose needs and voices can easily be overlooked during disasters.

With a background in public policy and a specialisation in climate change, I am passionate about turning evidence into better policies and healthier, more inclusive communities.

The PhD journey has brought its share of uncertainty, setbacks and demanding deadlines. But each challenge has taught me resilience, patience and, most importantly, to believe in the value of my work.

At Curtin Malaysia, I have found a diverse community that encourages me to keep learning and growing.

My journey is still unfolding, but I hope my research can help build disaster and health systems that leave no one behind. Progress may be slow, but every step forward matters.”- Zainab Manzoor, PhD student
