“The reasons I chose Curtin Malaysia are quite simple. Firstly, it’s close enough to my hometown, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Secondly, I wanted to join a university in a city in East Malaysia where there are less distractions than bigger cities in West Malaysia. I found Miri to be most condcive for university studies and student life and Curtin Malaysia suited my academic needs perfectly.

“After four years at Curtin Malaysia, I’m more than convinced I made the right decision. My lecturers used a lot of real-life examples to explain theories and concepts which I think is the fastest way for students to absorb what was taught. Furthermore, many of our assignments required us to apply theories learnt to real-life situations, exposing us to industry practices and work environments. This really helped get me career-ready upon graduation.

“It was also very important for me to strike a balance between my studies and extracurricular activities as both are important when building one’s resumé. The most amazing thing about studying at Curtin Malaysia was the diversity of its students and I’m glad I was able to befriend students from many different countries. This helped me step out of my comfort zone and join clubs and activities to broaden my insights and experience.

“My experience at Curtin Malaysia has changed me in more ways than one, helping me improve myself, changing my way of thinking, and moulding me into the person I am today.” –Wong Tze Nee, Entrepreneurship & Marketing graduate
