Wong Jia Man

“Hi, I’m final-year civil and construction engineering student Wong Jia Man.

When I graduated from secondary school, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study at university. A friend encouraged me to join Curtin Malaysia and I did, simply because it was the nearest international university to my hometown of Kota Kinabalu, but it turned out to be an excellent decision.

Studying at Curtin Malaysia has been a great journey. I have made many friends, have been taught by very friendly and supportive lecturers, and got the full campus experience, except during the MCO when we had to go online. Even then, the university made tremendous efforts to provide the best online learning experience and continued to organise major events online like the Civil Engineering Week, which made up for missed lab sessions. All these convinced me that I made the right choice enrolling at Curtin Malaysia.

Throughout my time at Curtin Malaysia, I have taken every opportunity to move out of my comfort zone by participating in various activities and events. The most memorable event I joined was the International Final Year Project Competition & Exhibition (I-CPEX) 2022 organised by the Malaysian Institute of Information Technology. My teammates and I worked really hard to win silver in the competition.
