“When I first came to Curtin Malaysia, I didn’t feel ready. As an IT student with no coding experience, I found university life overwhelming. I struggled with English, found it difficult to communicate, and, as an introvert, often wondered if I truly belonged.

But slowly, things began to change. With supportive lecturers, genuine friends, and an environment filled with opportunities, I started finding my place.

Joining IEEE and becoming an Orientation Leader became a turning point. These experiences pushed me beyond my comfort zone and helped me discover a side of myself I never knew existed. I became more confident, outgoing, and willing to challenge myself.

Volunteering in a community engagement project at SMK Luar Bandar Miri also taught me that growth goes beyond academics and technical skills. Connecting with secondary school students helped me develop my communication skills, understand different perspectives, and become more comfortable interacting with others.

My biggest achievement isn’t an award; it’s becoming the person I once dreamed of being in secondary school. From having to retake SPM just to enter university, to standing where I am today, I’ve learned to be myself, stop comparing, and trust my own timing.
