“I’m a Curtin Bachelor of Commerce graduate (Class of 2012). Today, I’m working to close the loop on agricultural waste, turning it into profit, nutrition, and resilience for smallholder farmers across Malaysia.

“Through my venture, Global Cerah, we convert agricultural waste into protein-rich livestock feed and organic fertiliser, helping farmers cut production costs by up to 45% while reducing reliance on imported inputs.

“Our circular model combines IoT-enabled traceability, rural tech transfer, and community-led implementation to tackle waste pollution, unaffordable feed, and rural underemployment – strengthening food security from the ground up.

“Since 2021, we’ve supported over 5,000 farmers, processed over 50,000 tons of waste, and created 3,000 jobs. I believe sustainability only works when communities see themselves as part of the solution.

“In 2024, I was honoured to receive the Curtin University Alumni Innovation Award and the Curtin Malaysia Alumni Innovation & Entrepreneurship Award.”- Willie Ng Wei Li, Commerce (Accounting & Entrepreneurship) graduate
