“I was very privileged to be an ambassador for Curtin Malaysia at the 8th University Scholar Leadership Symposium or USLS in Bangkok. It was a real eye-opener for me. I learned how the world and humankind can be very cruel and unforgiving. I came to the conclusion that I wasn’t any different from millions of people out there who lack caring and compassion for the needy and downtrodden. I came away wanting to do more to help make the world a better place.
“I learned that despite all the tragic events the world is experiencing, there is still hope for a better world. We were shown many examples of how love and compassion can transcend hardship and strife by the speakers at the conference. They taught us to be selfless, to be humble and kind to others. Their words completely changed my perception of the world and humanity. I came to believe that “Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile”.” –Usama Moazam (Pakistan), Petroleum Engineering student
