Umma Tamim

“Pursuing advanced education at a leading university has always been one of my aspirations. That goal became a reality when I joined Curtin Malaysia as a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) student and was awarded the Curtin Malaysia Postgraduate Research Scholarship (CMPRS).

As a PhD student in Applied Geology specialising in Environmental Sciences, I have gained far more than academic knowledge. Through the guidance of dedicated supervisors, access to excellent research facilities, and valuable learning opportunities, I have grown as a researcher and developed resilience, critical thinking, and confidence. Each challenge and achievement has strengthened my commitment to conducting research that addresses real-world environmental issues.

Beyond research, Curtin Malaysia has provided a supportive community where I have built lasting friendships and developed personally and professionally.
