Teo Eu Gin

“Hi, I’m Teo Eu Gin, a third-year Civil and Construction Engineering student at Curtin Malaysia.

I started my journey at Curtin Malaysia back in 2020 when I enrolled in the Foundation in Engineering and Science programme. As it unfortunately coincided with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, my foundation year was conducted virtually, which left me feeling rather bored at first. However, this experience also heightened my anticipation for the campus life that lay ahead. Thankfully, face-to-face classes resumed in the first year of my degree and I could finally come onto campus and get the full campus experience.

Leaving my hometown in Kedah was more challenging than I had anticipated, but those feelings faded as soon as I settled down in Miri. At Curtin Malaysia, I have had the opportunity to get to know a lot of amazing and exceptional peers, seniors, and lecturers who have motivated and inspired me. They have also been of great support in my studies.

I also joined the Curtin Civil Society, the academic club for civil and construction engineering students, as a committee member. This provided me with invaluable experiences and opportunities to develop skills in event planning, communication, and problem-solving, especially when I was appointed organising chairperson for our Kuala Lumpur Site Visit in September 2023. It was really glad the event went well.

Overall, I’m really grateful for the warmth and support I have received from the people at Curtin Malaysia. It has made my time there truly enjoyable. I am proud to be a part of Curtin Malaysia and will cherish my university experience forever.” – Teo Eu Gin, Civil and Construction Engineering student
