“As an international student, I was a bit apprehensive when I decided to come to Curtin Malaysia. My first concern was the food here, which I thought would very different from what I was accustomed to, but it turned out to be unfounded as many eateries offer international cuisine and the local food is incredibly good. As for language, I needn’t have worried as all students and staff on campus, and much of the local community, converse in English. This allowed me to adapt quite quickly.
“I like the University because it offers a quiet and comfortable environment to learn, play and explore. And Miri is not a huge city, so it is relatively quiet and relaxed. When I first arrived, I was met by another student from Zimbabwe, which made the transition a lot easier.
“The locals are very friendly and genuinely interested to find out more about you. They tend to ask a lot of questions and are also prepared to answer any questions you might have. I joined a number of societies and clubs which helped me learn a lot about Malaysian culture and adapt to the local lifestyle.” –Tendai Midzi (Zimbabwe), Computer Systems and Networking student
