Tadiwa Cynthia Chiviya
“Hi, I’m Tadiwa Cynthia Chiviya from Zimbabwe, currently in Semester 1, Year 2 of the Bachelor of Applied Geology.
“My journey at Curtin Malaysia began online, and to say that it was a walk in the park is an understatement. Attending lectures online thousands of miles away and in a completely different time zone meant there was next to no socialising or engagement with my peers. Eventually, I was able to come to Miri and join the campus community in my second semester, which was such a welcome relief.
“I particularly enjoyed participating in the 2022 Curtin Cup where I won medals and was honoured as one of the top athletes. The Curtin Cup is one of the numerous activities that students can join and be part of campus life. There is always something for everyone and they promote inclusiveness within the campus.
“Studying geology has been ‘magma-ficent’ not because Curtin is rated 34th in the world for geology but because of what I get to discover everyday – about nature, history, science and lots more. We were privileged to be able to go to the famous Niah Caves which was quite an experience that I will never forget.” – Tadiwa Cynthia Chiviya, Applied Geology student
