“People often ask me why I chose to pursue my studies at Curtin Malaysia. The first thing I would say is that is it’s the nearest foreign university campus to my hometown, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Curtin Malaysia offers an Australian education which is recognised worldwide with very affordable fees in Malaysian ringgit. I started my journey in the Foundation in Commerce course in 2017 and have been having a great time since. Time has just flown by and I’m now already in my final year.

“I used to be a completely different person back in high school. I was a very shy and introverted person, but Curtin Malaysia has provided me many opportunities to develop my soft skills besides the academic aspects.

“It has also been a blessing getting to befriend people from different countries with different cultures and backgrounds. My friends have been a great source of support and encouragement throughout my time here. I used to struggle when communicating with people of different backgrounds, but I’ve found that you stand to gain so much more in knowledge, insights and shared experiences if you opened up to others and get to know them better. My advice to students: Life begins when you step out of your comfort zone!” -Sylvia Yap, Accounting & Finance student
