“I’ve wanted to be an educator for as long as I can remember. But for years, that dream felt out of reach. I applied, waited, and faced rejection more than once. Instead, I built a career in industry, never letting go of the hope that one day I would find my way back to teaching.

“After nearly 10 years in management roles across Malaysia’s oil and gas and oil palm plantation industries, I finally stepped into the classroom. Looking back, I realise those years weren’t a detour – they were preparing me for the teacher I am today. The challenges I faced, the leadership skills I developed, and the people I met continue to shape the way I teach and connect with my students.

“One concept from Organisational Behaviour has stayed with me throughout my journey: the glass ceiling. I’ve studied it in theory and seen it in practice. Today, it’s inspiring to witness more women breaking barriers, taking on leadership roles, and proving that progress, while gradual, is real.

“Teaching is deeply personal because I want my students to know that success doesn’t have to follow a straight path.
