“When I first joined Curtin Malaysia, I started a degree in Finance and Management. I later realised management wasn’t something I was particularly passionate about. I missed the thrills and challenges accounting offered when I was doing it in my A-Levels. I consulted a few seniors who were pursuing accounting degrees and decided to take up the challenge and changed my degree to Accounting and Finance.
“I believe anything is possible if you challenge yourself and work hard. Ever since the change, the difference was very obvious and I feel it’s exactly what I was born to do. My career goal is to be a chartered accountant.
“Studying is not the only thing that keeps me going. People think accounting students are boring and all bookworms but I enjoy keeping up to date with world affairs and reading books. I am also an avid fan of sports and actively engage in it, particularly football, basketball and rugby.”–Simbarashe Makoni, Accounting and Finance student
