“I’m from Miri and first joined Curtin Malaysia’s Foundation Studies in Engineering and Science in 2017. I still remember joining the program two weeks late and missing O-Week. When I attended my first class, my lecturer announced that there would be an assessment soon which made me panic as I was afraid I would have trouble catching up. However, my lecturer was very helpful and patient in guiding me and I got through the assessment with no problems. I was really impressed that the teaching staff care very much for students.

“When I started Petroleum Engineering degree, things got a lot tougher and spent many late nights cramming for exams and completing assignments. Looking back now as a final-year student, I am delighted to have very supportive friends who have helped me through my ups and downs. Thanks to Curtin Malaysia, I now share many unforgettable memories with wonderful people from different countries whom I regard more as family than just friends.

“Besides academia, I’m active in clubs such as Curtin Korean Entertainment and Society of Petroleum Engineers. I love dancing and have performed at various events including Club Fair, Transcendance, IFest and Curtin Cup. I’m fortunate to be able to showcase my talent and passion for dance through such events. Also, my role as Interactive Media Coordinator in SPE has helped me learn critical soft skills and the importance of effective teamwork.” –Sharon Wong, Petroleum Engineering student
