“Unquestionably, 2020 was a challenging year for everyone due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Correspondingly, without preparation, switching from physical classes to completely online learning mode was definitely a challenging and unforgettable experience for me.
“The major issue with online learning is undoubtedly the problem with Internet connection for both students and lecturers. In online classrooms, unpredictable events can occur due to unstable internet connection. A sudden interruption during an online presentation would affect the student’s focus and eventually affect their results academically.
“Apart from that, face-to-face consultation is important for lecturers to answer student inquiries about assessments and other concerns. However, consultations also shifted online and through email, which put lecturers under a lot of pressure having to manage tons of emails from students daily.
“I’m very grateful to all the lecturers at Curtin Malaysia for their altruistic dedication to their students. They made their best effort to improve efficiency and effectiveness in online learning and ensure students get the optimal learning experience despite the hardship.” –Sharon Lau Huan Fui, Management and Marketing student
