Ryan Gabriel Chee Hao Zhong

“Hi, I’m Ryan Gabriel Chee Hao Zhong, a second-year Diploma in Commerce student at Curtin Malaysia. When I joined Curtin Malaysia in July 2023, I knew my life was about to change, but I didn’t expect it to be such a transformative journey. Moving away from my hometown and stepping into an entirely new environment was daunting at first, but it turned out to be a defining milestone, a chance to embrace independence, build new connections, and broaden my horizons.

From the get-go, I immersed myself in campus life, finding joy and purpose in being part of various clubs and activities. One of the highlights of my journey so far has been my role as a committee member and game master for The Great Escape, a club that hosted an overnight camp for high school students. It was incredible to see the participants experience our vibrant campus life, have fun, and learn skills to help them excel in their studies.

This year, I also had the privilege of being a committee member for the Curtin Cup, which taught me the true value of teamwork and the importance of forming meaningful friendships. Outside of academics, I love making the most of Curtin’s facilities, spending time playing basketball and badminton, and participating in the many exciting events organised on campus.

Reflecting on my journey so far, I’m deeply grateful for the opportunities to grow, learn, and thrive at Curtin. I’m excited about the path ahead as I work toward completing my Diploma and embarking on the next stage of my studies in the degree programme.
