“Hi, I’m Rumbidzai Mawayo, a Curtin Malaysia alumnus currently attached to Career & Alumni Services at Curtin Malaysia as a career and alumni services officer.

The achievement of attaining a Master of International Business with a focus in Project Management in the graduating class of 2022 has a special place in my heart as it represents the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance.

My educational journey has been marked by both challenges and triumphs. I remember the bittersweet moment of receiving my bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Hospitality, and Marketing Management, also from Curtin Malaysia, knowing that my late father could not be here to witness that milestone.“However, today, with my master’s degree in hand and serving my role as a member of the dynamic Career & Alumni Services and wider Corporate Affairs teams, I feel his presence more than ever. I know he would be jumping for joy and beaming with pride. And despite the distance that has separated my family and I since 2019, their love and encouragement have been my constant motivation.

Since graduation, I have gone through new job experiences, new friends and more. I carry with me the memory of my father and the lessons he imparted. His belief in my potential and his sacrifices have been the driving force behind my success. I am immensely grateful for the foundation he laid and the values he instilled in me.
