“Before coming here, I never imagined that Curtin Malaysia would be the place I would call home for the next four years. For starters, it’s on the other side of the pond – approximately 1,300 kilometres away from home in KL.

“The likelihood was, after I’d done my pre-U, that my parents would send me to a convenient university down the road, but I would not put up for it. I was determined to choose the best fit for me, and fortunately, my parents, bless their souls, were supportive.

“Finally, after what seemed like aeons, we stumbled onto a fair showcasing Curtin Malaysia. I was impressed, to say the least. Before the recruiter even finished explaining what this esteemed university had to offer, I was grinning from cheek to cheek at my parents. The look of relief on their faces was memorable. It was decided there and then. I would be pursuing my dream of becoming an engineer at Curtin Malaysia in Miri, Sarawak.

“From that point onwards, it has been enjoyable voyage of discovery. From the impressive modern facilities on this 1200-acre campus to the incredible diversity of students from all over the world, everything has been outstanding. I can’t believe how easy it’s been adapting to the campus environment as everyone is so friendly and welcoming. And now, three years into my degree, I am still ecstatic about being here and not once have I regretted making the decision to join this university.” –Roshni Cheymayne Miranda, Chemical Engineering student
