“I enrolled at Curtin Malaysia in 2012 determined to gain an experience that extended beyond getting a degree; a complete experience where I could interact with fellow students of different nationalities and cultures as well as grow as a person.

“I was involved in many clubs and events, particularly the Curtin Environmental Club, Toastmasters, Model United Nations and the Borneo Youth Leadership Conference. Such extracurricular activities were not necessarily related to my courses, but what they really taught me was to be bold in taking risks and moving beyond my comfort zone.

“Today, as an electrical engineer by day and a freelance writer and grassroots environmental activist by night, I realise how much my experience at Curtin Malaysia has prepared me for what I’m doing – in multi-tasking, managing commitments and, most importantly, working with people of diverse backgrounds in a respectful and empathetic manner.

“Looking back, my most memorable times at Curtin Malaysia will always be the many breezy bicycle rides I made from my off-campus accommodation to the campus and getting to enjoy breathtaking sunsets whenever I had evening lectures, club meetings or exams!” –Rexy Prakash Chacko, electronic and communication engineering graduate, now electrical engineer with Motorola Solutions Malaysia
