“Hi, I’m Rafael Marco Tanu, a Marketing & Management student at Curtin Malaysia.

From day one, Curtin Malaysia made me feel at home with its warm, diverse community. It’s where I’ve honed vital soft skills like time management, efficient work habits, and building connections with both Malaysian and international students.

Back in high school in Jakarta, I was shy and introverted. But the quote “The treasure you seek is in the fear you avoid” pushed me to step out of my comfort zone, meet new people, and get involved in clubs. I eventually became president of the Sports & Recreation Services (SRS) Activities Team, organising events and, inspired by my love for boxing and Muay Thai, started weekly training on campus. As Persatuan Pelajar Indonesia (PPI) president at Curtin Malaysia, I expanded my network by connecting with Indonesians and PPI chapters worldwide.

Majoring in Marketing & Management has sharpened my research, presentation, and communication skills, boosting my confidence and preparing me for an exciting career ahead.
