“Coming to Curtin Malaysia was my first experience of being away from home. I was homesick at first, but all my friends of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds made me feel very welcome and Miri soon began to feel a little more like home.
“I started off my studies in foundation in business. Coming from the science stream in secondary school, I thought I would have a hard time adapting to business studies, but my lecturers helped me a lot and I passed my foundation year with flying colours.
“As I want to make the best of my time here, I have volunteered for events organised by local businesses as well as an autism mentoring programme, which made me realise how fulfilling it can be helping those in need.
“Besides volunteer work, my student life has also involved participation in many cultural, educational, and sports events. I want to look back with fond memories when I graduate, like when I joined the Curtin Art and Dance to showcase my talent and passion for dancing with guidance from Curtin’s talented dance community.
“Student life is not just about getting good grades and graduating with honours, but also what you make of your student experience. It’s about striking a balance between your studies and extracurricular activities, enjoying life and exploring new opportunities.
“Now that I’m in my final year and as I look back on my years at Curtin Malaysia, it has been an amazing journey and I’m really thankful to all the lecturers and friends who helped make the journey memorable.” –Prieiya Baladewan, Accounting and Finance student
