“Hi, I’m first-year Environmental Engineering student Praja Sujay Kamat.

Starting a new chapter of my life online isn’t exactly ideal or a situation I expected to be in, but due to given circumstances, it was the best option. Learning online is not entirely new to me as I started and ended my entire A-Level studies online. Nevertheless, pursuing my very first semester of the Environmental Engineering course was honestly quite daunting as I wasn’t familiar with the University’s teaching techniques.

During my first few days of virtual classes, I felt very overwhelmed as I struggled to adapt and keep up with the lectures, labs, and numerous websites. Moreover, it was a lonely experience as it was difficult making friends with my coursemates online.

Luckily, my lecturers were very understanding and helpful. They answered all my queries, their online lab sessions were very detailed, complete with animations, and they provided additional reading materials and recordings for my reference. They ensured we online students were treated with equal importance so that we wouldn’t feel left out of the learning experience.

Now, I am really looking forward to being on campus for my second semester. I can’t wait to settle in and be a part of the campus’ diverse community, and do all the things I wasn’t able to do before this. I am aware that the road ahead is not going to be easy, but I’m sure it’ll be a very enriching one. – Praja Sujay Kamat, Environmental Engineering student
