“”Where are you planning to further your studies?” and “What course do you intend to take?”. Those were the kinds of questions I’d be asked after I’d finished high school. I dreaded answering them as I was still undecided whether I should go into medicine or applied geology, let alone which university to join. So, I was very grateful to stumble upon Curtin Malaysia’s booth at an education fair. I was instantly intrigued and impressed with what it had to offer. When the recruiter finished explaining, I decided there and then that this is the university I wanted to study at.
“Coming to study at Curtin Malaysia was a big decision for me and fortunately my parents were very supportive. It was my first time away from home in KL, but looking back after three years, I never once regretted my decision to study applied geology here. It has fun and challenging at the same time, and I really enjoy studying rocks and fossils. My lecturers are kind, caring and very helpful, and one reason why I really like my course.
“Apart from my studies, I was also involved in a few clubs. I learned a lot about organising events like the Curtin Malaysia Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor’s Cup, which was the biggest event I was involved in. I learned how important teamwork is and how to improve myself. Now that I’m president of the Geology Club for the first semester in 2021, I hope I can apply all that I’ve learnt for the good of the club.
“As Robert Brault once said: “Enjoy all the little things in life for one day when you may look back and realise, they were the big things!”, I can look back and see that all the little experiences and challenges I’ve encountered have taught me something valuable. They were also the best moments of my time here and now, if anyone asks where I’m studying or which course I’m taking, I’m proud to tell them it’s applied geology at Curtin Malaysia!” –Patricia Henry, Applied Geology student
