“Hi, I’m Panashe Tsimba, a chemical engineering student at Curtin Malaysia.
My passion for traveling has always been the driving force behind my educational pursuits. When the time came to decide where to pursue my higher education, I knew I wanted to transcend the boundaries of my home country and immerse myself in a new country. While Australia held an undeniable allure, the apparent costs made it unattainable. It was then that Curtin Malaysia emerged as a viable option, promising of an Australian degree at a more affordable cost.
My journey at Curtin Malaysia commenced in 2019, and over the following four years, I embarked on a transformative odyssey marked by both triumphs and tribulations. Initially drawn to petroleum engineering by the idea of working in prestigious O&G companies, I later found myself more intrigued by chemical engineering, which aligned more with my long-term career aspirations.
This path was not all smooth sailing. There were academic setbacks that were rather disheartening, but served as catalysts for growth, pushing me to redefine my limits and tap into reservoirs of resilience I didn’t know I had. The rigours of the COVID-19 pandemic further tested my resolve. But in these times of despair, staff at the Counselling Office and my academic advisor offered much-appreciated guidance and support. There were also all the wonderful friendships I’d forged, giving me a sense of belonging and helping me weather the storms.
To put it simply, my journey has been arduous yet enriching. Each obstacle surmounted has been a testament to my resilience, each lesson learned has illuminated a new path forward. As I prepare to embark on the next chapter of my life, I carry with me the invaluable lessons gleaned from my time at Curtin Malaysia.” – Panashe Tsimba, Chemical Engineering student
