Noraisikin Sabani

“Hi, I’m Noraisikin Sabani, but please, call me Nora. I’m a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Humanities and Health Sciences at Curtin Malaysia, focusing on socio-cultural studies that enhance students’ learning growth. I’ve been at Curtin Malaysia for over a decade, and in that time, this campus has grown from a workplace into a place I truly cherish.

When people ask what I love about Curtin Malaysia, I often pause – not because there’s nothing to say, but because there’s so much. Curtin Malaysia has been a place of growth, meaningful connections, and unforgettable moments. From my early days, when I was shy and unsure, I was welcomed by wonderful colleagues who introduced me to a world of friendships and support. One became my first close friend, taking me to events and helping me forge bonds that continue to this day.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible mentors, supervisors, and leaders, all of whom have helped shape me personally and professionally. Whether it was my early supervisor who became a confidant, or my first ‘boss’, who nurtured me with her motherly care, each person has left an indelible mark on my journey.

Even the campus itself inspires me daily. With its bursts of blooming flowers, serene blue skies, and ever-changing beauty, Curtin Malaysia feels like a place where you can pause, reflect, and appreciate life. It’s a little piece of paradise that reminds me of the importance of balance and gratitude.

To the many friends, colleagues, students, and support teams who have been part of my journey, thank you for your kindness and companionship. Curtin Malaysia is more than a workplace; it’s a family.”- Noraisikin Sabani, Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Humanities and Health Sciences
