“Being a librarian at Curtin Malaysia has been an interesting journey. As I have always loved books, being a librarian allows me to live my hobby.

“Some people say libraries are more than just about books; it’s about connecting with people too. Indeed, I find nothing more satisfying than interacting with students who use the library, making friends with them, and ensuring they’re satisfied with our services.

“During orientation each semester, we help guide new students on their transition from high school to university. Through every stage of their student journey, students come to us for information and help in navigating library resources for assignments, reports and exams. We provide both digital and offline resources and we try to provide all the facilities they need to achieve their study goals.

“I like the challenge of the job. I always look forward to meeting new students each semester as it means new experiences and challenges, and opportunities to step up my game and grow as a person. I never thought being a librarian could be life-changing, but in my 16 years as a librarian at Curtin Malaysia, there have been so many positive experiences that have made it a most fulfilling profession.” – Nora Hii Siaw Fong, Reference Librarian, The Library & Learning Commons
