“I started my Curtin journey in the Foundation in Engineering and Science program, and initially, found my new surroundings really daunting as I had come from a different city and had zero friends on campus. However, through orientation, I was able to meet my course mates and lecturers, and they have come to impact my life significantly.
“The unfamiliar environment did not prevent me from socialising and making friends who soon became my family away from home. From seniors I met during Club Fair to other fitness-minded people in the gym, they are all family to me now.
“My Curtin experience has enriched my life in so many ways. It has given me the chance to acquire knowledge and skills in my chosen field and improve my social skills. Besides what I have learned through lectures, I have learned to appreciate people of diverse backgrounds and their different perspective of things. All these experiences are irreplaceable.
“Now that I’m into my third year, I have also had the experience of being a team player and team leader through my student club activities. Being active in such activities while trying to focus on your studies at the same time can be difficult but these challenges make university life more exciting and have made me a more well-rounded person. With a positive mindset and an eye for challenge, your Curtin experience can be memorable too.” –Nigel Ng Zhe Hui, Chemical Engineering student
