“I joined Curtin Malaysia in 2020, right at the height of the pandemic. It was a challenging time to transition from research to teaching, but the vibrant campus community and supportive colleagues made all the difference.
My role here goes far beyond lectures; it’s about mentoring, inspiring curiosity, and guiding students to apply engineering theory to real-world problems. Whether supervising research, engaging in STEM outreach, or having heartfelt conversations with aspiring engineers, every interaction reinforces why I love what I do.
Moving from Johor to Miri was a big change, but it quickly felt like home. The warmth of the people, the richness of the local culture and, of course, the amazing Sarawakian food helped me settle in and form lasting connections, both on and off campus.
At Curtin Malaysia, I’ve found purpose in shaping future engineers – not just through knowledge, but through empathy, engagement, and inspiration.”- Muhammad Noor Hazwan Jusoh, Lecturer, Civil and Construction Engineering
