“I randomly agreed to my sister’s invitation to climb Mount Kinabalu in 2013. I had never tried hiking or mountaineering before and didn’t know what to expect. I only knew I must put myself to the test. After successfully scaling Mount Kinabalu, I became somewhat addicted to the activity. My proudest achievement so far is conquering the magnificent Mount Rinjani in Lombok. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, hiking for four days and going without a shower for three days! I can’t really explain why I chose to go through the torture, but I knew that the best view is always from the top, and to getting to the top involves a lot of hard work – mentally and physically. Your body can fail you in more ways than one and there are multiple risks involved. The trick is to imbed in your mind the thought that you have already reached the summit, and trust me, you’ll eventually reach the summit no matter how arduous the climb is. Positive energy and determination will get you up there!” –Marcella GiderSenior Corporate Communications Officer
