“Hi, I’m a final-year Bachelor of Computing (Software Engineering) student Charity Loh Xin Yun.

As I was growing up, I was always curious about how things worked and I loved solving problems, so it’s not surprising that I ended up pursuing a degree in software engineering.

I enrolled in the midst of the global pandemic, thinking things would go back to normal once my classes started. Little did I know that it was just the beginning of a very long lockdown. So, I started my degree online and tried to make the best of my learning experience despite not being able to meet my lecturers and classmates face-to-face. But our lecturers were great, they fully understood the struggles of online learning and did their best to make each class fun and interactive.

When I finally got to come to Miri to complete my degree, it was such a relief and I found Curtin Malaysia as one of the prettiest campuses I’ve ever seen, with an incredibly diverse community of students. Having the opportunity to meet and interact with people from various backgrounds has definitely enhanced my student experience and helped me improve my interpersonal skills.

As I enter my final semester, I can say I’m extremely satisfied with all the knowledge I’ve acquired, all the memories I’ve created, and the friendships I’ve made during my time here at Curtin Malaysia.”- Charity Loh Xin Jun, Software Engineering student
