“Frankly speaking, Miri is quite far from my hometown of KL, so Curtin Malaysia was not my first choice of university when I finished high school. However, when I visited the Curtin Malaysia booth at an education fair at KLCC, I got to learn more about the university from the recruitment officers who did an excellent job convincing me it was the best choice for me. It offered affordable tuition fees and multiple pathways to attaining a degree, and was also part of a top global university.
“When I arrived, I was a bit overwhelmed by the unfamiliar surroundings and the diversity of the student community, but I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and started taking part in student activities, including being a member of the Student Council’s Activities Sub-council. In that role, I got to network with all the student club presidents and members, and more importantly, was able to strengthen my interpersonal skills, which will be beneficial in my future career. I am presently president of Curtin Civil Society and using the skills I have gained in the Student Council to the fullest and am pleased to say that our club is doing very well.
“Curtin Malaysia is doing a terrific job in providing a safe and conducive learning environment for its students, and I want to take this opportunity to thank all lecturers for the excellent job they did during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. They worked hard to ensure we continued to learn and were always ready to provide guidance and support when we needed it most.” –Lim Zi Hao, Civil and Construction Engineering student
