“Undergraduate study at university is actually quite short. Even before I entered university, I was wondering how I would get the most out of the experience. What I didn’t anticipate was the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, back when I was a Curtin freshman.

“The first half of my university years were spent online, but I must say the university put in a lot of effort to help students adapt and cope. My lecturers did an excellent job delivering their lectures and I really appreciated the fact that consultations continued to be available to help students keep up with their studies.

“I recall a great conversation I had with one of my unit lecturers that really changed my mindset. We had an in-depth discussion about the programming field and how a good understanding of the different types of data structures and algorithms is important before stepping into the field. That conversation strengthened my passion to pursue a career in cyber security and programming.

“Although the online classes over the two years were interesting and a unique experience, I am now really happy to be back on campus and experiencing face-to-face classes once again.” –Lee Wei Hang, Computing (Cyber Security) student
