Lee Mei Jing

“Hi, I’m final-year Civil and Construction Engineering student Lee Mei Jing from Penang.

Pursuing my degree at Curtin Malaysia was a huge step for me as Miri is considered quite far from my hometown. However, having lived in this rather laid-back city for some time, compared to the hustle and bustle of Penang, I have come to love Miri very much. The people are really friendly, the local delicacies unique and delicious, and the place has fantastic sunsets.

Most importantly, I have many fond memories of my time as a student here. There’s been numerous events conducted by student clubs and societies on campus, the most exciting being the Curtin Cup. In 2019, I had the opportunity to join the cheerleading competition, where I learned to trust others, work together as a team, and perform more confidently. In the same year, my friends and I volunteered for the Mid-Autumn Festival and were put on the logistics team. We had great team spirit and delivered great results.

I know that these memories that I cherish will not have happened if I did not step out of my comfort zone and participated in these activities. So, to new students joining Curtin Malaysia, my advice is enrich your university experience by taking part in co-curricular activities. University life can be really fun and fulfilling!

It’s incredible how time flies. I’ve now come to the final semester of my studies, and I will never forget this amazing journey I’ve had at Curtin Malaysia! To all my fellow Curtinians, I wish you all the best!” – Lee Mei Jing, Civil and Construction Engineering student
