Khor Yong Han

“Hi, I’m Khor Yong Han, a third-year civil and construction engineering student at Curtin Malaysia.

Joining Curtin Malaysia was a significant turning point in my life. It was my first experience studying far away from home. Initially, adjusting to a new location and new academic environment was quite challenging, especially when it came to making friends. However, I stepped out of my comfort zone, started networking, and eventually made a friend for life.

Despite the arduous hardships, I’m glad to have been given the opportunity to grow, learn and excel. Immersing myself in the vibrant campus life, I joined various clubs and societies, including the Curtin Civil Society, IChemE Student Chapter, and Curtin ESG Club, as a committee member. Serving as the president of the Curtin Civil Society has allowed me to take on a leadership position and develop leadership skills, and provided me invaluable opportunities to collaborate effectively with others.

A defining facet of my journey at Curtin Malaysia has been the unwavering support and expertise of the faculty. The lecturers are not only knowledgeable but also very approachable, always ready to guide and support students in their academic pursuits. The faculty members’ commitment to providing a holistic education, coupled with the emphasis on practical experience and industry networking, has prepared me for a promising future.

The journey thus far has been great, an experience I wouldn’t trade anything for. It has been a journey has made me grow as a person and become the person I am today.” – Khor Yong Han, Civil and Construction Engineering student
