“I’m a third-year Chemical Engineering student at Curtin Malaysia. When I first began this journey, I didn’t have everything figured out. I just knew I wanted to become better than who I was yesterday.

“Chemical Engineering pushed me in ways I never expected. The workload was intense, and there were moments I questioned myself. But along the way, I learned something important: challenges aren’t signs that you don’t belong – they’re proof that you’re growing.

“Stepping beyond the classroom, I took on the role of treasurer in the Curtin Malaysia Student Council, and later became the organising chairperson for Curtin Cup 2025. These experiences shaped me just as much as my studies did. They taught me responsibility, discipline, and that true leadership isn’t about authority – it’s about listening, uplifting others, and working as a team.

“Looking back, I realise success isn’t defined by grades or titles alone. It’s built on resilience, continuous growth, and the courage to keep moving forward, even when things feel uncertain. This journey is still unfolding, and I’m excited for who I’m becoming.”- Joey Choo, Chemical Engineering student
