Janice Ting Zi Yin
“Hi, I’m Janice Ting Zi Yin. I’m a first-year Psychological Science student at Curtin Malaysia.
“I chose to major in psychology because I’ve always been captivated by human behaviour and how the human mind works. Understanding why people think, feel, and act the way they do has always been a fascination and curiosity of mine.
I joined Curtin Malaysia early this year, in March right after completing my A-Levels. I enrolled at Curtin Malaysia as it is close to my home in Brunei, and my family occasionally drives down to visit me.
During the first day of orientation, I was nervous about meeting new people and being in a completely new environment. However, the warm welcome from the orientation leaders and the really nice campus with its diverse student community put me at ease. The staff also demonstrated unwavering kindness and have offered invaluable guidance in my academic journey so far.
I am actively engaged in the Nescafé Youth Entrepreneurship Programme in my second semester here. In the time I have been here, I have made new friends, and met wonderful seniors and lovely lecturers. Recently, I participated in the Curtin Cup and won medals in archery and dodgeball. I am also a member of the dodgeball and judo clubs, allowing me to connect with more people at their activities.
Despite being a relative newcomer, I have genuinely enjoyed my time here so far, and look forward to more opportunities to develop and grow in the years to come.”- Janice Ting Zi Yin, Psychological Science student
