“Doing my PhD at Curtin Malaysia was both fun and challenging. As a researcher, I needed peace of mind to research and write and Miri was ideal, being rather peaceful and quiet. It was also really nice on campus, both the surroundings and the very caring and knowledgeable lecturers and my very wide range of friends.
“Mixing with people of different nationalities was great. We learned about each other’s cultures, talked endlessly about different kinds of food, and eating together. For researchers, this is quite important as it can be quite stressful if one focuses only on research.
“There was a bit of culture shock for me at times as people’s viewpoints can be quite different from what we’re used to in India, but it’s good to exchange views and learn how people view each other’s cultures.” –Jaison Jeevanandam, chemical engineering PhD graduate
