“Selecting the right university to pursue my tertiary education was difficult for me. I imagine it’s the same for many students leaving high school, but I had come across Curtin Malaysia at the numerous education fairs I attended through the years and the name stuck in my head. When the time came to decide, the fact that it offered Australian-oriented education with affordable tuition fees was what won me over and I decided to take a leap of faith and enrolled.

“The university provides a conducive learning environment that ensures that students are comfortable and at ease in their studies. The lecturers are very encouraging and helpful in guiding students, and were particularly so when COVID-19 struck in 2020 and we had to shift suddenly from physical to online classes. It was difficult adapting to such an abrupt change but the lecturers gave as much support as they could, communicating through emails, providing online consultations and organising Q&A sessions to ensure we were able to stay on track with our studies.

“Another aspect about Curtin Malaysia I like is the opportunity to participate in lots of events organised by student clubs, societies and the university itself. I have been able to develop and sharpen various soft skills, especially in interacting and communicating with others. I have also made many valuable friendships with people of different programs, backgrounds and ethnicities, some of whom I still keep in touch with even after they’ve graduated.

“I cherish every moment spent at Curtin Malaysia and will continue to make the most of my time here until I graduate.” -Ivan Matthias Chin Zhen Hung, Chemical Engineering student
