“I have been a traditional dance enthusiast my entire life. I started dancing for fun at first and am now doing it semi-professionally. Dancing defines my personality. It has taught me to be disciplined and to control my emotions. It has given me strength. It is an art form which sets you free, lets you be creative, gives you confidence and helps you find your hidden self.
“Dance, especially the classical form, is inexhaustible. You can approach it with a new outlook each time even when you’ve performed it a hundred times. When you dance, you have to put aside your personal feelings and be really focused. You have to follow the music and the beat, memorise all the steps, and at the same time, embrace the beauty of the dance.
“In today’s world, one should definitely learn one of the art forms, be it dance or music, as it can be a great stress reliever. It’s hard to describe the feeling dancing gives you when you perform. I’m glad I’ve had the opportunity to learn this beautiful art form and I hope I can continue learning it and teach the next generation. –Ingrid Gwendolene, IT Helpdesk officer
