Hazel Chang Ying Xuan

“I’ve loved storytelling since primary school, starting with fictional writing and later sharing “a day in my life” vlogs in my final year of high school. That was when I realised I wanted to tell stories visually, and dreaming of writing and directing films soon followed.

“Since enrolling at Curtin Malaysia in 2023, my journey has taken an exciting turn. Along the way, I discovered photography, a passion that now goes hand in hand with my dream of filmmaking. Through classes and volunteering at campus events, I’ve been able to sharpen my skills and pour my heart into the art.

“Joining student clubs, especially serving on the committee of the Curtin Association of Media Students, pushed me out of my comfort zone. It gave me confidence, meaningful connections, and hands-on experience – even being part of a small film set.
