Gan Ming Jiang

“Hi, I’m Gan Ming Jiang. I’m a Master of International Business student at Curtin Malaysia, previously graduated from the Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Marketing.

I chose to join Curtin Malaysia in 2019 for its affordable tuition fees compared to studying the same degree in Australia, and its beautiful garden campus. However, in the second year of my undergraduate degree, COVID-19 hit and interrupted my campus experience. It was a very challenging year because I hadn’t experienced fully online learning before. There were all sorts of technical issues, but on the other hand, a lot of additional learning support was provided to help us overcome those difficulties. Even though it was tough going, I managed to pass all my units.

After I graduated from my undergraduate degree, I felt somewhat dissatisfied that I had spent half of my university life at home studying online. So, after consultation with some lecturers and academic consultants, I decided to continue my studies at Curtin Malaysia by enrolling in the Master of International Business.

Aside from the academics, I have gained a lot of learning opportunities and other experiences at Curtin Malaysia. I had the opportunity to participate in the Nescafé Youth Entrepreneurship Programme where I operated the Nescafé kiosk on campus with five of my friends. I was also in the committee of Curtin Grizzlies Dodgeball Club, organising dodgeball tournaments and events such as the Curtin Cup. I also enjoyed training with my friends in preparation for coming tournaments and participating in various tournaments, including in Brunei.

I have really cherished my last few months at Curtin Malaysia. Thanks to everyone who have made a difference in my uni life. It has been a remarkable journey.” – Gan Ming Jiang, Master of International Business student
