“It was a tough decision to further my studies, doing a double major and getting a Bachelor of Commerce degree, at Curtin Malaysia. English was a challenge for me at first but I must say I have improved a lot since joining Curtin Malaysia. I knew I would be homesick as, coming from Kuching, I’d never been away from home to study before. I was also not a very active person since high school and wondered how I’d fit into the hectic campus lifestyle.
“When I started at Curtin Malaysia, I made a real effort to change and indulge in university life. In my first year, I worked on improving my English and public speaking. Giving presentations as part of my course helped me develop my communication skills and be more confident when talking to others. So, studying at Curtin Malaysia has not only helped me enhance my understanding of business but also allowed me to learn many valuable soft skills.
“The saying ‘If you want something you’ve never had, then you’ve got to do something you’ve never done’ really holds true for me now. I am always looking to have a more active and really fun student experience.” –Florence Lee Su Yuan, Accounting and Finance student
