“Now that I’m coming to the end of my journey at Curtin Malaysia and reflect on my time here, the past four years have been an absolute blur, yet it was such an exciting period of change in my life.

“Studying chemical engineering has opened many doors of opportunities for my future career. Although the learning process felt like a roller-coaster ride, I was able to tough it out with the help of my friends and lecturers. Their kind and motivating advice really helped me cope with the pressure of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The highlight of my experience was joining the Curtin Malaysia IChemE Student Chapter. I joined as a committee member in early 2020, about the time the pandemic started. Nevertheless, we still conducted quite a lot of events through online platforms such as Webex and Teams though it took us a while to get used to it.

“I had the privilege to organise some of the events and the most memorable one was the IChemE POPSIG East Malaysia University Roadshow in collaboration with the Swinburne Sarawak IChemE Student Chapter and IChemE POPSIG. It was my first time organising such a big event, but it was an unforgettable experience and I made new acquaintances in the palm oil industry through it. It was such a rewarding feeling knowing that the participants enjoyed the event as much as I did.

“I will cherish all these experiences and memories forever. I am proud to say that studying in Curtin Malaysia has made me the person I am today.” –Evane Serrah June Gani, Chemical Engineering student
