“Curtin felt like a whole new world to me – one where I quickly had to learn responsibility, independence, and accountability. Those lessons have shaped who I am today.

At just 16 and in my first year of Engineering, university life is all about finding balance. Between lectures and assignments, I make time for what I love – training in Taekwondo and playing music. Earning my black belt taught me discipline and perseverance, which I now carry into my studies. Music, whether it’s the piano or drums, gives me a much-needed creative outlet.

Curtin’s diverse environment has also helped me grow socially. Meeting people from different backgrounds and working with others has pushed me out of my comfort zone, and helped me become more confident than I ever imagined.

To me, it’s not about being perfect. It’s about learning, growing, and making the most of every opportunity.”- Eunice Sia Yee Xuen, Chemical Engineering student
