“I was born in India but lived in different countries around the globe due to my dad’s work in oil & gas. I grew up in countries such as Oman, Malaysia, Australia, and the United States, which gave me a very international outlook and made me a Third Culture Kid (TCK). So I naturally enjoy learning about global cultures and meeting different people.
“Coming from the American school system, the obvious choice for me was to pursue an engineering major with a world-acclaimed university. As I had lived in Malaysia for five years, I chose the Curtin campus here, which is also close to my country of origin, and offers the same degrees as Curtin University in Western Australia.
“Studying at Curtin Malaysia has taught me courage, perseverance and the importance of teamwork. It has also given me opportunities showcase and enhance my leadership qualities and acquire critical skills for the future.
“I’ve also had the pleasure of knowing some of the most prodigious and erudite professors who have taught and supported me throughout my student journey, not to mention my many friends of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
“Time really flies when you’re doing what you enjoy and here I am in my final year! It’s been an exhilarating experience studying at this vibrant campus, and I would advise all current and future students of Curtin Malaysia to take every opportunity to engage in campus life, pursue your passions and discover what you are really capable of. That is what a university experience should be like.” –Eliza Maharana, Chemical Engineering student
