“I started my career with Curtin Malaysia in 2021 and my very first class with my students was delivered online because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was only a half a year later that I would meet my students and colleagues, but it’s a relief to finally be on campus.

“Life in Miri is kind of slow but it’s nice being surrounded by nature. Unlike in my hometown Penang where you are often stuck in traffic, in Miri, I can get from one destination to the next without much hassle. One thing that I noticed about living in Miri is that Mirians are very welcoming and friendly, and besides the food, I have really enjoyed getting to know people from various ethnic backgrounds.” –Dr. Lee Yih Nin, Aquaculture lecturer
