“Working at Curtin Malaysia is an excellent stage in my career path. I am quite familiar with Curtin as I took my PhD at Curtin Perth and I frequently visit the main campus to meet old friends.
“I remember when I first arrived at Curtin Malaysia. It was very pleasant but also quite different to what I was more accustomed to big cities. Luckily, everyone here was very friendly and helpful and I soon felt right at home. The campus community is like a big family. I was also comforted by the wide variety of food here in Miri. I like to explore the food in the countries I visit. For me, the kolok mee, chicken rice and rice porridge are the best.
“I have enjoyed teaching since I was in high school. Previously, I did voluntary work teaching maths and English to disadvantaged children in my neighborhood. I consider the ability to share knowledge a blessing and Curtin provides many opportunities for me to develop my full potential in teaching and conducting research. It is not difficult to work with Curtin students as they are all very bright students. I am very touched whenever I read comments on my teaching from my students.
“By conducting research, I can contribute to society and learn something all the time. Fortunately, I have the opportunity to serve as an associate editor for IEEE Access, a prestigious electrical engineering journal. My ambition is to invent technology which can solve fundamental problems for society. I believe we should never stop learning; we should make use our ability to do and create useful things.” –Dr. Filbert Hilman Juwono, electrical and computer engineering lecturer, Faculty of Engineering and Science
