Crystal Chan

“Hi, I’m Crystal Chan, a final-year Chemical Engineering student at Curtin Malaysia.

I first stepped foot into the Curtin Malaysia campus only in my second year of studies due to the pandemic. I was enthusiastic about finally having face-to-face encounters with my course mates and lecturers after getting to know them online. To broaden my skills set, I stepped out of my comfort zone and actively participated in club activities. This helped me strengthen my communication and networking skills.

Outside of my coursework, I completed a rewarding internship program during my semester break. This hands-on internship allowed me to apply my theoretical knowledge to real-world situations, which reaffirmed the relevance of what we learned in the class to real-world applications.

Currently, I am engaged in my final-year research project, exploring innovative approaches to sustainable energy production and environmental remediation, such as bio-composites and sustainable development. This project gives me the chance to contribute viable solutions that could positively impact the world.

My time at Curtin Malaysia has been exceptional. It’s been only about studying; it’s also been about growing personally, and preparing myself for my future career.” – Crystal Chan, Chemical Engineering student
