“In 2016, I joined the Student Council and I gained a lot of experience from that. However, in the beginning, it was rather hard balancing my time between my student council commitments, organising various events, and my studies. Trust me, managing events is not easy. You can be under a lot of pressure to meet deadlines and take responsibility for a lot of things. That left me very little time for a social life or getting enough sleep.
“Anyway, as they say, ‘Time is a good teacher’. After a while, I practiced better time management and things got better. Also gained better communication skills. Both are very important skills, both in student life and the working world. With such skills and the knowledge and experience I’ve gained as a student at Curtin Malaysia, I learned to be more independent and started my own cosmetics business.” –Amanda Yong, Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) graduate
