Adlynna Batrisyia Ahmadul Adi
“Hi, I’m Adlynna Batrisyia binti Ahmadul Adi – just call me Ady! I’m currently in my second year of the media studies diploma program, and what a journey it’s been so far!
When I graduated from secondary school, the world was slowly emerging from the grip of the COVID-19 lockdowns. It felt liberating but also a little overwhelming. With so much freedom suddenly on my hands, I found myself asking, what’s next? Form 6 didn’t feel like the right fit, and I wasn’t sure what I truly wanted to study. I spent weeks spiralling through YouTube videos – daily vlogs of university students, career advice clips, even tutorials on pursuing fashion design. At one point, I was convinced I needed a “label” or a concrete identity tied to my studies. Without it, I feared I’d drift aimlessly.
Amidst this chaos, I stumbled upon something familiar – my love for drawing. I’ve always enjoyed sketching characters from media I loved, and I found myself binge-watching video essays on niche films and shows that captivated me. That’s when it clicked: media.
Media is everywhere – it shapes opinions, sparks conversations, and reflects who we are. I wanted to dive deeper, to understand why it moves us the way it does, not just as consumers but as people.
Since starting my diploma, the road hasn’t always been smooth, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. The hands-on projects and lively discussions in class have made learning fun and exciting. My lecturers, who are just as passionate about media as I am, have been nothing short of inspiring. Their guidance has helped me grow – not just academically, but personally, too. I’ve honed my communication and leadership skills, gained fresh perspectives, and made wonderful friends who share my passion for this field.
I’m so grateful to everyone who’s supported me along the way, especially my lecturers. Their dedication and encouragement have been a driving force, and they inspire me to aim even higher. Thanks to them, I’m not just studying media – I’m thriving in it.”-Adlynna Batrisyia, Diploma in Media Studies student
